Where behing the headunit can I attach an earth wire, or would I be best going straight to the battery neg?

think earths are meant to be within 0.5m of the unit but not sure. battry might be ok cos thats where the standard one will be id imagine

yeh just find a bolt or screw that goes into somewhere that'll give you a good connection to the chassis.

i've heard ppl say that for a big system you should earth your headunit back at the earthing point for you amp......
