no they aren't illegal as long as the the letters are the correct size and spacing and the backing is the right grade of reflective material. Lots of cars have them on (e - types, kit cars, loads of classic cars aswell).

I read on the DVLA website that they were illegal, but who knows... Everythings so fucked up these days its difficult to say whats illegal and whats not!

Pretty interested in a rear one though!

yes they are illegal, also should have the postcode/markings of the company who made it

classic cars i think ull find are exempt from modern day ruling, just like they dont need seatbelts before a certain year and so forth
