Picked up a 1400 turbo near edinburgh about 2 months ago. It was in a sorry state. bent valves, head was warped, turbo was buggered, cam pullys were missing teeth. Needed a whole new rebuild.
I wanted to improve on courtenay's shoddy cheap work (which isnt hard) so my jedi mechanic and myself set about stripping the lot down and putting in new ported and flowed head, top end rebulid. Bottom end, pistons replaced with low comp ones, ARP bolts, uprated rods etc. The extra fuelling under boost was controlled by a cheap pressure switch that set the injectors to full which is not really acceptable but made the car go.
I installed electronicpressure switch connected to a 5th injector, still not ideal but its cheaper than a complete DTA managment and remap.
Just thought id share my aches and pains with you guys. Car is going well and confused alot of ppl when the dump valve goes off. Looking at what courtenay done and how they got their kits going its not hard to do. Plus my mate has one is his 1600 8v nova. 3 years he has had it now and its still alive on standard internals and that pressure switch.
The condition i bought it
Engine in its new home. Still loads of work to do. Cleaning mostly!!!
Gettin there
New way of sucking in the cold air.
5TH injector plumbed in
Front mounted intercooler
Finished product

its not covered in rust. LOL. its water from the last expansion tank. I dropped it on the engine. Its all cleaned off now. Manifold just needs a proper clean. Im awaiting the heat resistant paint coming from a company called ADS.
