what tyres can i run with 17s?

i want to use 215/40/17 instead of the usual 205/40/17

my car has been lowered by 60mm and had the arch lips cut off and the plastic arches bonded on.will i have any problems?

possibly on spring compression (goin over a bump) as they are wider the side walls may rub on the side of the arch, just a bit highter than the top of the arch bolts (where it comes in sligghtly)

mate, just go for the 205/40's:
1) reduces the chances of scraping, even tho uve had arches sorted out. 60mm drop + 17's means that every mm counts. 215/40's wont do u any favours, coz u'll hear a little scuff and say, why didnt i get the 205's.

2) when it comes to replacing tyres, 205's are cheaper and readily available. and coz every1 is buying 17'' alloy packages with 205/40 tyres, the prices keep falling. u'll find that in some places, 205/40's are same price as 195/45/16!!

its up to u mate but I wudnt risk a 215/40, and lets face it, with the car that low and the rims that big, people wont be fussed about whether uve got 215's or 205's!!

on 8's u use 215/35, 225 is too wide again, as said u want the thinnest tyre u can get.

i cant see y u wud want 215/40 anyhow wheres the benefit over 205/40?

if u want wide looking tyres get uniroyal rainsports.
