I prefer Vauxhall engines
Gibbs, Nik, Robbo prefer Honda engines. Fair enough
exactly, each to their own
just the main reason all this happen's is no offence but most on here without a honda will insult the engines saying they have no torque etc, whereas people with them don't start slagging off other makes of engines for being inadaquete.
I've had a vaux, tough little engine and becuase of that i rate them as good engine's, I just don't like it when people insult another Very Good engine.

Well said Ojc. This whole thread started from a C16XE apprecatiation thread I started on www.roybacer.co.uk and my comments were pure banter. Obviously it got taken too seriously here.
As I said there and I repeat here, VTEC engines are sound. They produce high outputs efficiently and reliably. At the same time, Vauxhall engines are also solid and efficient and produce a very drivable torque curve but they just don't work at the rate that the VTEC engines do.

Not quite sure what your on about the VTEC torque curve being all over the place?
As I understand the power curve from a VTEC engine is about as smooth as you're gonna get, unlike other types of engines which have a torque peak at lower rpm's which tails off as the revs rise; the VTEC allows the curve to be much smoother hence giving a more uniform power delivery accross the rev range
Correct me if i'm wrong :/
