Did you hear about them starting the rally with the "backup" gearbox, after Martin decided to do an 8k RPM launch in front of the crowds, which killed the gearbox?

In 24 hours, they had the gearbox stripped from Lee's Boxster back in the UK, by some friends, transported over to Paris, and worked through the night to remove and replace the gearbox!

Pic (slightly large, it isn't mine and I'm in work so can't resize it) of the mechanic (in red) and Martin (in blue) looking a bit knackered trying to replace the box:

apprently they were all in a parade in paris, but martin could'nt resist it doing the lanch infront of the massive crowds, although they was a very high possiblity it would brake

they had to find martins dad to get into his workshop, to get the tools and parts for the gearbox to fit,as it not clsoe to a standard box

Well, the Cossie only ran 150 miles on a full tank, whereas the MPV ran about 450 miles......makes sense that it was in front, since quite a few people have commented how long it takes to fill up with petrol over there!

Renton is driving the Redline Skyline for this one, the Cossie that's crashed is Martin Hadland's Reyland Escort......and yes, it's they're driving in the Gumball 3000...
