MattyB actually mate
erm the phase 2 has a few niggly probs that u gotta be careful of, but especially electrics like mentioned above.
I have a phase 1 and never had any probs with it *touch wood*, but my brother has a ph2 and has had continuous problems with his electric windows/mirrors.
Its a french car, and they aint built well. The interior is nicely styled (especially the sportier models), but is of poor build and is squeeky and flimsy.
The bodywork is of a shabby finish, even on newer models. Paint finish isnt good. My bro had to have his proffessionally cut and polished coz it was so bad, and i need mine done. The metal used is very thing and easily dents!
Engines. Diesels up till 99 are the mechanical bullit proof D8A/DJA 1.9 DT units. No probs with these if they are regularly serviced. Petrol engines upto 1.8 16vs are strong sound units. 2.0 16vs have had untold problems, and unreliable. As previous mentioned, the 6 speed box is weak, although is a good box when its running!
If ur buying a ph2 pug, i'd say get it fully checked out, buy from a dealer and get a warrenty!! more than likely u'll need it.
As for good points, they look sexy and handle like on rails. The sportier models are....Sporty!! And the interiors are nice!

Erm, all the best handling cars have torsion bars. Its a far superior set up than "springs". Springs evoke untold under steer. Torsion bars are a perfect set up, with just enough over steer to get the back out when u have to.
Fine, they are trickier to lower, but thats one of them things. I'd rather have a car that can handle straight outta the box better than a corsa even with 'tuned suspenion".
