right ive just come to change the dics on my 1.6 sport (its defo a 1.6 btw) and I've found the fookin brakes that I've got dont fit
the haynes says their supposed to be 256mm which the discs I've brought are but they are defo not gonna fit the caliper holder cant be done up its a good 2cm's from lining up with the holes
so i had an old 236mm (i think its 236mm) disc from a 1.1 106 (different car I know but same disc size wise) anyway i tried this and it all fitted fine!
So my first point is this normal for this to happen? did vauxhall put 236mm on 1.6's?
BTW they are defo original calipers cause they seem to be in just the right sort of condition for its year which is 1998!

EVERY 1.6, be it a Sport or GSi was fitted with 256x20mm vented discs on front. 236mm vented is what was fitted to the 1.4 16v's. Either your caliper bracket thing is buggered/misplaced or you have a 1.4

its bizzare it really is! I thought for a split second that it might be a 1.4 but after checking the haynes manual and my spark plugs it confirmed it as being a 1.6 plus the v5 states its a 1.6!!!
Its fookin bizzare to say the least, im gonna take another look at them 2moz and if they still wont go on then im gonna be getting some GSI calipers hopefully 2moz to replace the ones on their now

if you changing calipers, look for astra GTE ones. they are so much better than the cack corsa 1.6 ones. and the wider 256x24mm discs make a big difference
