yes you can find out, download a SSH client such as PuTTy (google for it) then connect to www.ukflava.com on port 22, then it should ask for a username and password. enter the details and if it lets you in, WEEEE

The hosting I use allows me to access and create Cron jobs on the Account Control Panel. If the hosting has something similar it might be worth having a play with it.

Yea, I made a cron job, I'm not sure if I did it right though, I just typed in the path of the file that I wanted to run, porbably wrong... And the set it to run every hour...

Theres a lot of info on the web about it mate - it seems pretty easy. I just had a quick read of this and it looks like the most probable fault would be the URL

While you're testing, set the cron to do it every minute or so, you can modify the job later.
I suspect you just need to run that auctionupdate file every so often, don't worry about anthing bash or anything PHP.
We have a few going on on here for various things, its only like scheduling a program to run and take care of some housekeeping indepently of web requests, nothing too difficult.
