right been told if i get a straight through pipe in replace of the cat and silencer i will gain anything up to 10bhp + car will soudn alot louder.
but recently alot of mechanics have told me it will be slightly louder but wont gain any bhp and it will eat fuel alot more.
i believe the top one but what is the truth? getting a welder to weld a straight through pipe end of next week but i just wana know the truth.

What CC is your engine? A 1.2 or similar will suffer with that kind of mod due to loss of back pressure

if its a complete exaust system including the manifold, downpipe and onwards then maybe upto 10bhp but not more than that if its a 1.2!!
but u will loose a lot of back pressure especially without the cat so u might not gain anything and also it might sound farty!!!
so keep the cat at least, to keep some backpressure and help with the farty sound

You'd get better gains out of a sports CAT, a manfiold and a good CAT back system. and it would all be tip top with the law come MOT or spot check time.
