have u got the google toolbar? if u have, then -
Click the arrow by google
Click Options
Click the More tab

in the search option section, uncheck save the search history across browser sessions

Clearing the history clears previous searches.

If you mean the ones that appear in a drop down box when you type the first letter in Google search box, just point to them and press delete.
