i have et38 is it possible to shave/cut off some of the metal on the inside of the alloy to make it go further into the arch, as it scrubs on the actual arch outer....

Yes by machining it,its strongly dis-advised though as you can weaken the compusure of the wheel etc

You're joking right?Fitting spacers would only make the wheels stuck out further.
Try cutting the two top bolts,cut the inner metal arch,if that doesn't solve the problem sell the wheels and buy new ones with the correct offset.
