It's used on Corsa's with rear engine conversions and 4WD Corsa's too. It it possible, but requires a lot of work. You have to use a part of the floor pan from a Calibra or Cavalier 4WD and the rear sub frames and suspension. This will widen the rear track of the vehicle by about 40mm, so you must also widen the front. This is done by installing a 2.0 engine, usually with the 4WD gear box so that the car can be used as a 4WD vehicle, and using the driveshafts and other parts from it so that you get the right tracking width at the front.
These people did it to get a twin engined turbo Nova http://www.boost-beast.de/boost-beast.de-DE/galerie/frame-inhalt-bauphasen-01.htm
