the computer is only running 16 colours and it wont change i dont have any discs for the monitor does anyone no how i get it working properly

Try the manufacturers website, or the graphics card drivers.

You'll certainly be able to download drivers for it, do you know what graphics card it is?

Find out what your graphics card is and then download the drivers for it from the manufac web-site. That should fix it.

Or you could go and find the graphics card in the device manager and tell it to search for them auto (if they were on your system before, they should be now)

not sure what graphics card it is says standard pci adapter vga its a old monitor ive just formatted it because they were viruses on it but now its done this everything esle is ok except no sound

If you write down all the information on the chip on the graphics card I can get the drivers for you no problem.
