I think the 1.7TD will have to be on the adgnda, The 1.5TD is acceptable, but i want to go one further .
Watch out punto boy in ure pissy 140 lb/ft torque punto................. Nova 1.7 TD running 200 lb/ft torque commin ure way
This is gonna be fun
throw £150-£200 at the GT and get 160bhp and 160+lb per torque like my old one, which also did a 1/4 mile in 15.04
Throw £180 at a 1.7TD and you have 140-150hp and 200lb/ft and about 15 sec 1/4

A car can have all the torque in the world, without enough power it won't be able to use the torque at a decent rate.
POWER (bhp) determines the speed work can be done, Torque is jUt an indication of ability ...NOT FUCKING RATE.
Torque is the turning force produced, you need to go back to school i think

I must say, a lot of torque doesnt mean that it can pull like a train up hills in all cases.

trains produce peak torque at just off of stand still, it's what is needed to get the whole lot moving, the faster they go the less torque they produce, but it's the torque that accelerates the vehicle

an example when torque actually helps.
essex racer has a 1.4 16v with velos torque tube, chip, decat full exhaust.
this has defo got more than 99 bhp which my td has.
now he will confirm that we were even neither one was quicker when we went too pvs.

Adam, I go to school every day as a Physics teacher.
I never said it wasn't turning force produced what I said was not an indication of speed, in not so many words.
Maybe you need to go back to school and learn how to read.
