it'll say on tyre wall, summin like 165/65/13 82V or along those lines and the first number is the width, second number is the size of the tyre wall and third number is the alloy/hub size!!

it will say the width of the TYRE on the tyre wall, not the wheel width.

What measurement do you want?

The steelies are prob 5" or 5.5" wide, with 165 odd tyres.

basically on my insurance i am allowed 3 mods declared alloy wheels counts as 1 mod but if they are wider than standard then they count as 2 mods apparently. So i've got to find some alloys the same width as standard wheels.

What model corsa you got? Did it not come with option of factory fitted alloys? Some insurance companies really do take the pish... Standard 13" steels are 5.5" wide. I'd say the biggest dia you'll get would be 15" with a 5.5" width and that would be from one of the rally companies Compomotive, Speedline etc You wont get really low profiles on though I doubt, a 195/45/15 may go on but look a little wiered as most 15's are at lease 6.5" wide.

I've got a 1.2 vegas.

It really does take the piss, at the end of the day alloy wheels are alloy wheels, its not like i'm fitting 20" chrome spinners!

What about alloys off a corsa c? would these be the same width?

Probably not. In general alloys are ALWAYS wider than steels as steels are a MUCH smaller diameter (13" as apposed to running a 15" alloy). What I was thinking but it would be a bit sneaky would be to see if you could have fitted 14" alloys as an option with your model as 'standard' the 14's were 6 or 6.5" wide I think so then you could go for a more popular alloy. To be honest though skinny wheels make for great lowering and I know how you like your motor low so a set of 15 x 5.5 or 6" with some good quality 185/50 rubber would be perfect and shouldnt catch at all.
