I will be doing this sometime today and i'm not sure how much oil it takes to fill it back up to the right amount, does anyone know???

just use the dip stick lad... put 5 pints in anyways turn it over then use the dip stick to get it perfect.

In a vectra with the eco 2.0 16v, there are 2 types of sumps, one taking 4.5 litres and the other taking near enough 5 litres. Dont know if that helps you or not.

Mine takes just uder 5 litres and Castrol only comes in 4.5 litre containers! Quality

pop 4l in..... let it settle.... then use the dipstick.

Im sure max to min is 1l... and i'm pretty sure it takes 4.5l

it depends whether hes got an oil cooler on etc and whether hes doing the filter at the same time

What i'm goin to do is change the oil filter aswell, will it be ok to put in some oil flush to clean it right out or is it a bad idea on a 90k+ engine??

i wouldnt bother...just do the oil a lot..is the engine noisey/tapppy?

has it been flushed before? if it hasnt then id be wary about flushing it as it dislodges large lumps of shite which can get stuck in oil pickup pipes

Its getting a bit tappy now, almost positive its the lifters

if ya doing the filter, run the engine for a few seconds once ya put new oil in to fill up the new filter, leave the car for a minute or too then check the oil level again and top it up

If the tappets are noisy you should take them out and de-grease them by soaking them in a degreaser so that they are thouroughly clean and then refit them. Also, use an oil thats thicker when its cold - Do a search on Mig, there are a lot more knowlagable people on there than there are here...
