As above, what do the groups actually mean? Could I fit a chip designed for group N spec to my C20XE that's standard apart from induction/exhaust and a 4-1 manifold?

So it wouldbe okay to fit a "group N courtney sport chip" to my XE then? A chip is the last bit of tuning that i am going to do for a while cos im off to uni and wont have any more money to spend!

AK, what route would you suggest i take then? I was looking at a fully mappable ECU to bypass the vaux one (mine is either faulty or wired up wrong, reading errors from brand new sensors) cos i was offered free mapping with an emerald one, but that fell through and i cant afford £600 odd for electrics. Im getting the wiring looked at asap next week, so will be looking for an upgrade. Are the piggyback chips any good? Is it worth getting one that doesnt need a RR session (I know they wont be as good, but are cheaper and might be more bhp/£)

no point in a diff ECU if you have a standard engine...

just get a diff ECU and loom....

only reason i was going for mappable was cos i could have got one and had it set up for £250, that would have got rid of my problems, given me 10bhp more and given me the opportunity to remap with more mods. I asked before but didnt get a clear response - if i change the wiring loom and ecu at the same time, will it matter that the code on my current ecu is different to the new one, so long as the new loom and ecu match up? (if that makes sense! )

the loom is just wires..... the ECU should switch over without problem... ( i think )

Get to a scrappy and swipe an ECU from a c20xe'd car and pop it in and try.... easiest way to find out
