just bought a mono block amp to run my 2 alpine swr 1021 subs but i dont think i have wired them up correctly

can someone please help me find out what i have done wrong

on the sub it has 2 -ve's and 2 +ve's think they're 2ohm subs.

have read some previous posts but not really understanding the theory

so the sub is a DVC? (Dual Voice Coil)
If The subs are 2ohm u cud have problems. because both of these will give u less than a 1ohm impedance.
look at the wiring diagrams at the top of this forum.

this one....
I think it would be exactly the same except ur using 2ohm subs..but I've looked at ur amp & it's stable down to a 1ohm load.
Çheck with someone else first because I might be wrong.

It might just be my misunderstanding of amps thats wrong, but if you bought a mono block amp, you only have one set of terminals (one +'ve, One -'ve). You've shown two sets

You should have had a wiring diagram showing you how to wire them up when you had the subs. If you didnt there's one on alpines site under support in PDF format

some Monoblocks come with 2 sets of terminals though.

Ok just got my head around all this now. The reason why its not as loud is because you are only running the amp at 2 ohms, so it wont give its full power output.

Connecting up the subs voice coils in series will give you 4 ohm per sub. Then connecting both subs in parallel will only give you 2 ohms.

The lowest you could get your system down to is 1.25 ohms, which is better than nothing.

You will however have to wire the subs like this:
