i want to keep the same number i have atm but im getting a contract phone and my current sim is on payg can i keep the same number?

Yes, you phone up your operator and aske them to release the number so you can transfer it accross. Simple process if you stay with the same operator.

Number portability allows you to maintain your existing mobile number and move it to another mobile network of your choice.


'Porting' has now been improved to simplify the process and to speed it up. The process has been reduced from 25-30 days to as little as 7 days.

If you wish to port your number:

You will need to contact your current Service Providers Customer Services, for a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC).

No port can take place without a PAC number.

Your Service Provider should issue the PAC number via post within 2 working days of your request.

You have 30 days from the issue of the PAC number to buy a phone and allocate your mobile number to your new network.
Once you have this number you should pass the details onto your new service provider
The port should then take place in as few as 7 working days or you can choose an alternative date upto 37 days ahead.
