The corsa is off the road yet again! Duno wots happened this time n hope sum 1 can shed sum light on wots gone wrong! I was givin it sum n admit that, i changed from second to third at about 7000rpm, then a slight rattle started which quickly turned into a metal on metal banging sound, took the head off the other night and found that all four valves on cylinder1 have touched the piston, as well as that two of the hydraulic lifters wer well stuck in (exhaust side) The cambelt hasnt snapped n wasnt loose. Any1 any ideas! I cant stand drivin a Clio 1.2 when ive 2.0 corsa in the garage!

are you shore you have the right Cambelt or the timing could be off but chaing gears @ 7000 is a tad bit high most of the time you can change between 2000 and 4000 for normal driving or 4000 and 6000 rpm for racing but 7000 . and it will run smooth...

sounds like oil starvation top end, this would cause ya lifters to stick and jam ya vaves open so they hit the pistons.
I would point my finger at ya oil pump, or its jumped a tooth or 2, i dirve my car at 7500rpm, now and again, with no problems, so i dunno, cambelts usually jump when downshifting
