The club has refused to confirm the identity of the player, who has been named in one media report.

He allegedly gave a positive sample after a random drugs test following the final Totesport League game of the season against Gloucestershire.

The England and Wales Cricket Board say they have activated proceedings "in accordance with anti-doping regulations applied to first-class cricket."
