The story goes....
Driving to work car cuts out, pull over check wat i could think of!
got the car home changed the fuel pump relay, still aint starting
checked the leads for a spark, only gettin one in cylinder 4! 1,2,3 aint gettin nothing but the spark from the coil to the dizzy cap is fine, tried a diff coil then tried a different dis cap still no joy...
the only thing we aint tried yet is a new crankshaft sensor!!
any other suggestions???
Help me please i need to get the train to work 2moro!
I THINK ITS TIME FOR A LET!!!!

if the spark was ok from the coil to cap why did you change it?? if your getting a spark from the coil then you need to eliminate theiongs from the cap forward,
dizzy cap and rotor arm,
and ht leads

we swapped the cap and rotar arm and we still got no where! think it may be a wiring fault or cranshaft sensor?!?!? any more help?

I thought that one 'spark' was distributed to the dizzy from the coil, and the distributor 'distributed' it to each lead accordingly.

yeah that is the case, the spark is goin to the dizzy but then only goin to one lead! we tried another dizzy cap, but i think the problem is the crankshaft sensor

crankshaft sensor is part of teh fuel injection system, not the ignition system. try a new distributor, they some times shear the lug of in the camshaft..

does the crankshaft sensor not tell the coil wen to send the spark into each cylinder as i was under the impression it did...

Nope the coil is a big capacitor and discharges power to each plug as the rotor spins and passes each connection on the inside of the Dizzy cap. Try the good plug and ht lead on each connection on the dizzy cap, then if it sparks on each you know the cap is good.

also try removing the dizzy cap, and turning it over, get someone to watch the rotor arm to see if it spins or not
