I have just bought a flush boot panel from SuperNovas (corsacentre.com.) It arrived today and i was going to start fitting it tonight, however doesent look as simple as i thought! Has anybody fitted one of these or had one fitted?? Cos i need some tips!!

undo the bottom of the spoiler if ya hav one, if ya got one life will be made much easier as you wont have to smooth the lines in as much, you need to clean ya existing boot panel, remove the wiper, motor lock etc, then rough up the surface of ya boot with some rough grit paper, 240or summit dont go down to metal though. the panel just basically gets bonded over the exisitng one, the pain is using filler and fibergalss to smooth the ends in i would skim the whole panel too before priming and use a high build primer before normal primer

Thanks for that people you have inspired me lol!!! Yeah i have got a spoiler, should i put something like expanding foam inbetween the flush panel and the reg plate indent!! also how hard is it flushing the panel and approx how long will it take me?? Cheers again

Is it not better to weld a metal panel on? heard those ready made panels arent very good? could be wrong!

ive got one of those pannels, as allready said take your time and make it a good job first time
theres nothing wrong with these panels, and it saves welding metal plates on, but people want different things so dont really matter cos it comes out excatly the same lol

Fill it in with expanding foam in some vauge attempt to make it last longer than a few days... Also, when working with fibreglass and filler you should always apply it to bare metal and not to roughed up paint.

Surely the metal will rust under the panel if ya expose the metal, i would just rough it up to give a key for the Bonding product ya using to stick it on, window dosnt have to come out ya just need to lift up the rear window rubber, i would fill the recess with foam but beware that shit really expands and could ruin ya panel if ya not carful!!!!

use a low expansion foam, BEFORE fittin the panel. then shape this. dry fit the panel at least 1o times before you bond it to make sure its perfect. you can get away without removin the screen. if you remove it you will need to pay someone to refit it.also, fibreglass over the holes left from the wiper and lock. apply the bonding agent smoothly over the boot or it will ripple.
