well.... give me a rough spec

Will the rev limit be substantialy increased? (needing new rods, head parts etc)
Will it use standalone management?

Id say you'd be looking at about 160+ for a pretty basic setup (mild cams, mild rev limit, mild mapping)

If the 1.8 is based on the small XE's then TB's and a good exhaust manifold with ARPs should see in the region of 170ish
But getting past the ecu issues though? Like a 2L in a corsa C standalone would cause other problems surely? (just thinking out loud)

after what sort of rev limit increase should you start thinking about new rod bolts etc coz mines unichipped (maybe raised revs) not sure yet but shouldnt think anymore than 7k??

7 is ok on std bolts, but for £60 the piece of mind is nice. as far as I'm aware an unichip can't raise the rev limit it just maniupulates the signals the ecu recieves rather than the data held on the eprom.
Also I think you'd have problems with the std map on the ecu not being able to cope with TB's in it, but you migh tbe able to get away with it but using bigger injectyors and altering the whole thing to suit. Also light throttle would be diffcult manipulating the std ecu as the difference betwen 0 and 0.5% throttle with TB's is massive in air flow terms. It's probably easier to stick a low pressure turbo on it and let the unichip do it's work with that and run a 5th injector.

iv been at 7200rpm for a while now, and use it often lol, on standard rod bolts and not a single problem!also uni chip cant raise the limit, u need to buy a new bit which unichip can supply

Yeah 7200 is meant to be the max safe limit. But with TB's on you'll find that you will happily go to 8k, which is the limit of the pistons, then 8250 for the rods.

indeed i know this, id feel happier getting some new bolts in there but cant afford to have the car off the road or afford to get it done right now. if i was building my engine again id get it done was foolish not to when the engine was put in and the rest of the goodies bolted on

why it only take a couple of hours,
manifold off, sump off, drill out.
Job done. do it next oil change. then you can up the limit to 7950 hehehe
