I love Clios!

Only real downer I can think of is that the engine can need to come out for some odd jobs.

will be between 10 and 13 years old now, thats a long time for any car, a very long time for a french car and and even longer time for a hot hatch.

There are some minters out there, if you can find somoene that has owned it for an extended period of time and replaced parts with genuine renault parts and/or performance parts then you are laughing.

other than that its got a lot more torque then the 1.8 16v, especially low down, makes a lot of difference on the road.

yeah nice and quick build quality is much to be desired and as some one mentioned before you will spend loads on it as a cambelt change is an engine out job

also like to point out i had the edge on a clio williams in my valver when i had some banter with one

I got a 1.8 16v that I bought in July- paid 3k for a supposed minter from a dealer and its been off the road with problems half the time I've had it. As mentioned expensive to have any work done on due to engine having to come out. Clutch was nearly a grand. Great fun cars tho. Still love it even after all the aggro its given me. Nippy and handle well. Usual shitty french build quality tho- dodgy electrics and flimsy plastic.

Well i've had my 1.8 16V for a nearly 4 years and can honistly say the car has had a hard but cared for life..... all parts fitted are genuine renault and it up to 91K now and still runs like a dream.

Bad points..... parts are expensive and due to the size of the engine bay/engine working on it can be a right arse.

Problems i've had:

3 Gearboxes - due to splitting circlip on the diff but if you've been the car you'll know why
1 pair of fuel lines @ £110 these are shaped to fit round the engine.
1 cam belt change @ £135
1 pair for front shocks Koni £200

last time i blew the gear box i changed it myself....
New gearbox
New Radiator
New waterpump
mew thermostat
Plugs
Leads
Rotor arm
Distributor
Oil
Anti freeze
thermostat
fan switch
alternator belt
gaskets

Think it came to about £1100 cos I done all the work myself

Currently have problems with one of the locking wheel nuts and having to drill it off slowly.
