dirivin home 2 nite, and battery light came on and rev counter went flat, thought a fuse mite hav gone or summit, then when i got outside my house the brake pedal wouldnt go down,but had been fine the whoel journey, any ideas wots wrong?

either a fuse or the alternator has died
what engine is it?
as i have a alternator spare

sound like a corsa deisel and alt is fooked or belt snapped

i dont have a diesel alt and i fear they cost a fair bit

Pedal not goign down? Was the engine runngin again when you tried as the vacum servo wouldn't be working and make it feel hard.

its a 1.7 diesel, the brake pedal only goes down like about half a centermeter, no matter how hard i push it wont go any further, would the alternator explain this aswell?

the engine runs fine, drives fine, jst takes ages to slow because of the brake pedal only goin down so far

sounds like a problem with servo/master cylinder

sounds like a knackered alternator to me. Brake pedal isnt working since master cylinder isnt getting any juice.

id say snapped belt the alt drives the servo evacuator on the dirty diesels

jst had a look and the alternator belt has snapped, ill get me self a new 1 2morow and hopepfully everythin should be back to normal, right?

make sure u dont drive alot coz your cars running purely on the battery and could cut out and loose all power at any time

fitted new belt and everythings fine, cheers for help
