If the engine seems OK but you have little or no service history for it, would it be worth having the engine rebuilt or just fix things as they break?

Id just give it a good service, and after a few 100 miles get it all check ed out........ just make sure the cam / fan belts are changed..... its gotta be worth givin it a go it will cost alot to have it re built

Yeah I know...

You reckon a full service (oil/air/fuel) filters, oil, spark plugs, leads, cam belt and rollers, and fan belt, and see how it goes?

i would, but as i say its a risk, but i would due to the fact, its gonna cost alot more to get it rebuilt.....it would be cheaper to buy another decent engine with history

ud be wise to find just a low milage one with fsh, in my opinion, and just make sure u hear it runnin b4 u buy it........... ur looking at a very rough guess for a part rebuild around 500 but im sure someone will correct me. The only other reason why i wouldnt have a re build is u dont no what actual work there gonna do and may charge u for things that dont need doing

im rebuliding an x14xe at the mo its not fun on the money side
