thing is, majority of games that come out on the xbox goto pc anyways (due to the xbox running a stripped version of Windows CE) - so its beats the objective of owning a game console.
HOWEVER.......the xbox offers better graphics to date, although sony have claimed that game designers are only using a percentage of the game engine and power in the PS2 - hence, why its "supposedly" better. But you cant really compare the both consoles as sony use a graphics chip specially designed, whereas the xbox uses an "off the shelf" Nvidia chip.
But i feel the xbox 2 should sort things out, considering microsoft are going to use their own DirectX Graphics Chip

I can't see why people have such a hang up about the Xbox being a PC inside a black box?
You put a game in, you play a game, you're done. No messing, great graphics, etc. All for £100.
No point worrying about nextgen consoles, live for today dude. PS2 is tired and needs retiring.

I have a semi fast PC but i hate playing action or driving games on it. PC for sims like Champ Man and consoles for the more hands on action, football, driving games.
Like Joff said.........its total pick up and play. No error messages, no upgrading your RAM or whatever.

And as for upgrades... you might want to change the DVD drive and fit a bigger hard drive
