Seen private plate I want, but it begins with S. My car is a P plate but should be replacing it with a 106GTI between now and April.

Should I buy the reg now which would mean I'd have to buy a 106 GTI S reg or newer, but the plate is mine!

Or,

Wait and see if I do get an S reg, then see if the plate is still for sale?

PLate is £250. Do I need a car to put it on straight away or can I wait a while?

I was told you have to put it on a car within 6 months or pay another fee.

Not complete sure though

what does it matter what year the car is? i know you said the plate begins with s but is it just a personal preference to match up the year and personalisation or is it to do with the law?

Yes, you cannot make a car appear newer than it actually is. IE A car made in 1994 L reg, putting a 2000 W reg on it, you cannot do this.
