Got a new 6230 for xmas today, but i think theres something wrong with it. Turn it on, then it looks like its turned off again (apart from battery icon) and it says "Check connection settings". Does the same thing after sending a text, after receiving files over bluetooth and sometimes when someone rings, it does it when i answer :S Any ideas what it could be? Outgoing calls always work, and i have managed to receive some calls and videos!

Try turning off Always-On GPRS, see if that helps.

old sim card, with o2 PAYG. The phone has already been unlocked, i got it new off ebay. I sent the text to them today to get the picture message settings or whatever (sending the text "PICON" to 21400), but i think the phone turned off when i got the reply too! (that only happened since the problems before, so im guessing isnt the cause)

Goto the O2 website, and try getting the settings sent to the phone for GPRS etc (PICON just enables picture messaging on the Sim).

GPRS was already set to "when needed". Just remembered it wouldnt play MP3s either. I got a video clip sent via bluetooth which worked fine, i stuck the memory card in card reader on pc and put some mp3s on it, but they wont play either through media player, or when set as the ringtone, although when i sent one to my mates sony ericson thing, it played fine on his :S Tired a different sim, battery and memory card in it, but still happens.

just went to test it by writing an email, opened the folder and it said "email settings not complete!" then only option was to discard, which made the phone turn off and on again. I give up for tonight!

Try doing a factory reset?

Probably won't do anything but worth a try?

if the fone did not start off as a o2 handset it is likely 2 need a software upgrade from a o2 shop. usally sorts alot of gprs settings problems out. cant remember da code 2 find out wat software u got though, software version should be bout 5.27 i think.
