I lads,
I've got a X1.4XE and want to increase it's capacity to 1.8
Mantzel and Risse Motorsport have this option, but they charge a fortune.
1650cc it's easywith with a 1.6 crank and new 1.6 0,5mm oversize pistons, but how do I get 1.8? withe X18XE pistons? any Ideas?
Upgrading to 2.oXE is not an option because it's illegal over here
thanks

But they can get 1.8 from these engines.
What's the bore of the 1.8XE with oversized pistons?
do they fit to the 1.6XE Rods?

it is reccomended that you do not increase the cylinder capacity by no more then 200cc.......(50cc per cylinder..)
so to get a 1.8 ya will either need to get the 1.8 engine....or rebore a 1.6 to a 1.8

You cant rebore them that much.
How much do mantzel charge? If its over £3000 then they might change the crank and rods for a longer stroke but I would have thought thats highly unlikely.
I'm pretty sure the 1.4 and 1.6's have the same stroke (and crank).

The 1.4 and 1/6 have different crank and rods. the 1.6 has a longer stroke.
If you want to get a 1.8 bottom end easily you need to get the crank pistons and rods from the 1.8 from a corsa C 1.8 engine.

I think Miles is right because they charge 3000 euros
thanks j1400 for your tip
The 1.4 and 1.6 crank are different, my Idea was to fit the 1.6 crank with 1.8 pistons, is it possible?
Because other way it's just too expensive, or not
Is it a sraight swap using the crank and rods and pistons of the 1.8 SRI?

The X18XE is based on the big block engine family. (2.0 ecotec but smaller bore 81.6mm instead of 86mm)
The X18XE1 is based on the small block engine family.(1.4-1.6 ecotec, bore 80.5 and stroke 88.2)
Found this in the Vectra fórum
this is getting interesting now I really want to check the crank part number of the 1.6 Xe crank
EPC anyone?

if increasing from 1.4 to 1.6. is this an easy job.
would standard ecu be ok?
and what would power increase be like as it will still have a shorter stroke?

It will work with standard chip 1.4 should give 12 to 16 bhp and more torque would say 145 to 150 nm

why not buy a 1.8? Did they make an astra mk3 1.8?
Or just get an XE?
Sounds like an awful lot of money and effort for something that wouldnt even be that quick? and reliability of an engine that over fettled?
