mum bought dad a dvd recorder for xmas with the intention of recording things off of sky and burning movies recorded with the digital camcorder onto DVDs.

Thing is, we can only seem to record the channel we're watching, even though we tell it to record Sky channels using the Timer, it just seems to record whatever channel sky was set to originally.

Are there any simple things that we might have overlooked? I presume you can actually record things off of Sky? Or am I wrong?

thanks for the help

If you choose AUTOVIEW then SKy will change the channel itself.

When you're in the Personal Planner, where it goes when you set a reminder, press the Red button for Autoview, and Yellow for Series Link (ie it autoviews every episode in the series rather than you having to set it each week).
Altho - check the intstructions. Our DVD/HDD recorder has a feature where it can be controlled by the Sky box. A normal Sky box too, doesn't have to be Sky+.
