With under £1000 to spend

Are diesel engines which are 10-15 year old more solid and better built that petrol engines of the same age.

Are they easier to maintain? I heard the parts are a little more expensive?

1.4 1.5 106's
1.8 clios
1.5 corsas
1.8 fiestas

Turbo Diesel Corsa's are nippy, LuckyB had one years ago and it was up there with my sport

Get it for £400, reasonable enough with low mileage

Insurance would be a problem as she would be 17 nearly 18 with 0 NCB, didnt TD only come in 1.7 and not with 1.5?

They did a 1.5D, a 1.5 TD and a 1.7D in the corsas .

i believe the peugeot 205 diesels are meant to run forever with brilliant fuel economy too

one of my workmate drive a 205 diesel with 400000kms (original engine...).

the old 205 1.8d is group 8 insurance i think, my mate paid a fair bit to insure one as his first car

also there not the best cars but for cheap to run i would say the 1.5D 106 from experience

106 diesels like eating headgaskets.

Unless she does a lot of miles get petrol!
