My mates looking for a new car now that he has worked his arse off! Would like some suggestions on what to go for.

He has up to £5000 to spend.
The Quicker the better.
Must be reliable and fairly good on fuel as he does 22k a year!!

He's 20 by the way with 1 years ncb, 3 years driving experience and living in a low crime area.

Cheers,
Alex.

Alfa 156 r quite nice more reliable than alfas used to be.

It's a dificult one with all the things u've mentioned but sounds like he needs somethign with some decent motorway power so will need to be 2.0ish (if he's 20 should get a quote). How much can astra coupe's be had for now, or even a sri hatch?

Surely ITRs are more than that. Start at about £6K on autotrader.
