lol, quite complicated, but biochemically,
Strength training produces molecules called PDK1 and mTOR for progress
where endurance training produces PGC1(alpha) and AMPK for progress

To cut long story short AMPK inhibits mTOR molecule and the bulk of the weight training is pointless...

In each case the molecules are elevated then die down to normal after roughly 24hrs

Sorry mini essay

Makes no sence at all - but i kinda get the drift

When you think about it endurance sports (long distance runners etc) tend to be thin and less muscle, where power sports sprinters and throwing etc are big and muscular at the compromise of endurance...

Training for both is impossible at elite level; a crossroads is reached where you cant gain in one aspect without loosing out in another...

Which is why decathletes are commonly described as being the true 'athletes'

The 3 key elements you need to cover when wanting to go muscle is working them out, resting allowing them to prepare, and feeding them. Now a supplement is just that...supplementation to your diet. Yes it does deinfatly help add those extra calories. Yes it will be better than not doing a supplement at all.

It would be beneficial to you if your wanting to gain mass to obviously take a mass gainer...that protien plus carbs...reflext instant mass is cheap and a good product. If you want lean msucle then take just whey protien supplement. You can get them deleivered next day delivery from www.monstersupplements.com generally around 30 quid. Try and go for reflex as u get more for your money. Stay clear of products like maximuscle or milk protien based onez

I knew somone would ask!

I did it doing sit ups wrong mate really..Not having the base of my spine on the floor when doing crunches

It switches off certain muscles in your very lower abs and in the lower back meaning loads of other muscles in your body have to try and do there jobs.

It ain't nice i can tell ya!

doing weights for punches are only good if your doing it for explosiveness, meaning you push the weight up quick and drop it down slow building the muscles you need to punch. road work is really good for fitness and cardio vascular, spin classes are good too. i train in muay thai every monday wednesday and friday, and do weight training inbetween but nothing too intense, and my main part is roadwork, morning and evening runs. surprising how good you feel after a good 40minute run in the morning before work.

whats Muai thai like?

Im split being that or jui Jitsu at the minute favour JJ because i should lose any size, muay thai would strip any size off.

muay thai is good if you like it. ive always loved it so thats why i do it. i wouldnt say it strips you of size but it does give you good body conditioning and tones you up well. i train with a few lads who are big lads one being 120kg and also pele reid an ex pro boxer, he is huge, and has only 7%body fat. it keeps you really fit and teaches you to use all your limbs as weapons. im fighting this year and im off to thailand in august to train and fight out there too. a real good sport and good for fitness. and obdviously if you get into street fights can be handy also. brazilian ju jitsu is good, gracie style. a branch of our gym in cheltenham does it with a world champion instructor from brazil. im from the trojan gym. worth takin a look. www.trojangym.com

depends what you want to do it for mate. i train 3times a week to fight, then just road work inbetween training days and the visits to the gym. just for fitness you could go once a week. but we fight train so train hard and need to put the effort in as theres lots to learn.
