Dan is totally right. I was reading the MOT testers bible today and if fitting an older engine to a newer car then the test is done on the emissions of the engine but proof of age must be shown. I think you will find there is a date stamp on the front edge of the block on a LET and probably on a c20xe. I cleared this up with Courtney today whilst on with other things.
