what gauges would be beneficial and look quite trick relocated to where my ashtray normally lives? are auxilary gauges fairly straight forward to wire in? i have a mate with some spare mk1 golf gti gauges from centre console and thought they would look quite trick... i would buy some nice ones obviously, what do you think to:-
Voltmeter
Oil pressure( how hard would this be to wire in?)
Amp gauge(would that be pointless if i had a volt one or are they the same lol)
Vacuum :- assuming i can fit this to my c16xe easily?
Just want to get some simple but useful mods done...i may have some smiths gauges kicking about in the garage i could possibly use, trying to get them to look fairly factory but not if u get me

id go for oil temp and oil pressure, then others, oil temp goes to the sump plug and oil pressure goes to the existing pressure hole with a splitter in it

For oil pressure and temp etc. what sort of gauges are the best electrical or mechanical? Or don't you have a choice and it depends on the car?

can have either, mechanical are cheaper tho, and they work when the engine is off lool

pod looks sick! id go 4 voltmeter cos im always listenin to tunes without the engine runnin at push starts r killing me lol but iv got a new battery now so all good so far!

mechanical uses bigger wires than electrical, wire up the same, i.e. uses a sender and a wire, just the wires are fatter on mechanical

So the only difference is that one has fatter wires and still sowrks after engine is switched off and the others have thinner iwres and stop when engine stops?

i have mechanical, but they dont work due to nailing one of the sensors and oil leaked everywhere...soon i shall fix them
