is there much in it? i know the 8v is 82BHP and the 16v is 90 i think, but has anyone actually raced?

Off the mark nothing in it, once moving 16v gets away.

Mid range 16v is better.

yes..the SRi 8v seems quicker off the mark where as the 16v has a huge flat spot at low revs. But once the revs build up the 16v engine feel more pokier. There is not a lot of diffeence but the 8v does run out of puff quicker.

My mates 1.4 16v Sport got beaten by a 1.4 8v SRi the other day Both are standard engines but SRi pulled away from him. 8v had 120,000 on the clock and my mates Sport has got 36,000 on the clock

nothing in it, raced a mate, my sport against his 8v sri, couldn't pull away

very marginal difference's

could be anything from slight difference in driver styles

i have had both engines, a 1.4 8v and 1.4 16v!

personally the only good thing bout the 16v engine that i had was it looked nicer than horriable 8v, part from that the 8v was betta, i dont rev my cars to high tho so prob didnt get best out fo the 16v but i liked the 8v for being fast off the mack pulling off from juctions etc!
