heres basic instructions of how to do the rings:

easiest way is to remove the sump, remove the head, undo the big end bolts, push pistons up through the top of the head, replace rings. might as well fit new big end bearings and arp rod bolts too while ur there. (get a new sump gasket as well)

obviously a little bit more too it than that, but not a difficult jub as long as youve got the tools.

just get standard sized rings. i got some recently for my re-build, expect to pay 80-120 for a full set.

look in your yellow pages under engineers/ engine reconditioning. try and buy german manufacturers, or manufacturers like KW, AE, or FEDERAL MOGUL.

No point ordering a set of rings at "£80-120" until youve got the head off as the bored could be scored to fook!

well the plan of action so far is.....to take engine out,or head first maybe? just thinking of access round the inlet manifold etc...then replace seals etc on head,I am obviously going to be doing the piston rings....but where do i get replacements from? are they pricey?sizes???

from the sounds of the compression i do not think it needs a rebore does it?

I will be painting the block and head while its out...would engine bay lacquer be ok for this or is there anything spectacular to use?
