If you can afford it go for a 182 or if your like me (poor ) get a 172
Great cars, ive owned a corsa before the clio is so much better. Not just performance but handling as well, also they are good on fuel consumption and very good insurance considering group 16.

My mum has a new clio 1.2 16v I had a drive in it, they are really nippy for a 1.2 so if u can't get the 182 or 172 the 1.2 is a good car too.

I would go for the 1.2 16v then, I have had a go in one and they are good cars.
My mum has had hers from new and its about 1.5 years old, the only problem she has had was the sun roof was rattling for some reason but renault fixed it under warranty.
If you are getting a new one you will have a load of warranty anyway so if anything breaks just take it back.

My mum test drove a corsa, clio and honda jazz out of all of them she much prefered the clio.
Take the 2 out for a test drive
