It increases the preasure in the radiator, thus making the water hotter and ultimatley making the engine run hotter. So how is it providing better cooling of the engine under hard conditions, especially when its contributing to the hard conditions its enduring?!

It doesn't make the temperature higher, it raise the boiling point (where the water would turn to steam). This means you can drive harder (and make the water temp higher) without running the risk of the coolant boiling
