Step by step guides would be appreciated.. I'm struggling with some spraying at the minute..
Got a perfect colour match and good finish, but can't make it shine like the rest of car..

there is no orange peel on them :S
process i used was
clean the plastic with thinners.
rub down with 1000 wet and dry (didnt have anything more corse)
clean with thinners again
primer (very thin coat)
prime again (thicker coat)
rub down
prime again (thick coat)
rub down
base coat (thin coat)
base coat (thicker coat)
final base coat
then 2 coats of lacquer (still to do this)
the longer you take the better the finish

once painted.get 1500 wet and dry sand paper.
fill a bucket of water
wet the item u have painted
rub the paint gently with the wet sand paper all over.
dry off and if there is still any shiny bits rub them down again.
so that the paint has no shine at all
sounds mad but trust me.its called FLATTENING the paint.
now use RUBBING COMPOUND and polish the wheel, using some elbow grease.
buff off
add polish, super resin.or whatever u polish ur car with.give it a goof polish and buff it off.u will be surprised trust me

I sanded a tiny rust spot out right down to bare metal.
Filled the hole with some plastic filling stuff.
Left it to set hard.
Sanded down and smoothed it to the shape of the panel with some very rough sand paper.
Sprayed some primer on.
Sanded down with 1200 grit wet n dry.
Sprayed another coat of primer on.
Sanded again with 1200 grit wet n dry.
Sprayed 3 or 4 thin layers of paint on, leaving half an hour between coatings.
Sprayed 2 coatings of lacquer on.
Rubbed some rubbing compound on.
As i said, colour match is good and finish feels good - it's just not reflective like the rest of the panel.
I think my problem is that i used the rubbing compound at the wrong time didn't i?

yeah.
give the item a rub over with 1500 wet sand paper so it takes all the shine off it.
rubbin compound
then polish it.

Im trying to do smoke grey door handles and light brows? Tried sanding inbetween top coat and lacquer, but the finish has come out darker than the colour of my car?
