Starting the game
When you first start career mode, you have to set your region. You can choose from Europe, Asia, and North America. Once you choose a region you CANNOT change it, so make sure you make the right choice. You may be wondering 'whats the point with all this region crap?'. Well the simple answer is, more cars from your own region are avaliable earlier then what they would in the other regions, and are also cheaper. A good example of this is some of the Ferrari's being unlocked straight away if you choose Europe, but having to wait till a certain level to use them in Asia or Japan.

Does my region affect what tracks i'll be racing on?
No. Regardless of what region you select, you will always be racing on the normal tracks, in the same order.

How does the career system work?
It works on leveling up. Now may of you may think 'lolwtf i fort it woz a sim, not an arcade game lolz' but the system is very effective. Depending on you're difficulty (explained later) you'll get a certain ammount of money from the race. The harder you set it, the more money you get. If you set it to the highest difficulty, you will get a 100% bonus, meaning you are effectivly doubling what you would of got originally. To move to the next level, you need to get a certain amount of credits. Each time you move up a level, the credits needed to get to the next one increases.

Whats the point of levels?
Each time you level up, you get a reward of some sort - mostly minor rewards such as 25% off street racing tires. The real nice rewards come every 10 levels (and sometimes even 5). These rewards are things like, new cars unlocked and new types of races (such as endurance races).

So whats this difficulty thing then?
The setting in this isn't just a simple "Easy - Medium - Hard" setting. There are different options within the menu itself, which include options such as 'TCS Off' which gives you a 15% bonus. Just to make things easier for you lot, heres the menu, and its explanation.

-Suggested Line

When on: A green line shows up on screen, and shows you where about you should be on the track, giving the optimum racing line. It also changes colour depending on what you should be doing. If its green, you're fine, keep accelerating! If its yellow, you should let off the accelerator and let the car coast. If its red, then you should be braking as you're going too fast. Bare in mind, the line should NEVER be red when you're right ontop of it. If you see the line red in the distance, you should slow down till it turns green... then continue. If you brake over the redline, you will crash, i guarentee.
+0% Bonus

When off: You have no line, and no help
+15% Bonus

I should have it set on: On... untill you get used to the tracks, then turn it off.

-A.I. Difficulty

Easy: Opponents are easy to beat, and don't always take the best lines. Not very aggresive.
-25% Bonus

Medium: Opponents are harder to beat, but still a pushover if you have the better car. They take the line more often, and actually want to win.
+0% Bonus

Hard: Opponents will try and win at any cost. You're car will have to be seriously fast and tuned in order to beat them. Very aggresive, and will fight back if you nudge them.
+20% Bonus

I should have it set on: Medium at first, then Hard when you're a pro.

-Damage

Cosmetic: Crashing will do nothing to your car except damage the body.
-25% Bonus

Limited: You can damage your car now (steering, engine, wheels, transmission etc), but once it gets to the 'yellow' stage, it cant be damaged further.
+0% Bonus

Simulation: You can damage your car, to the point where you cant shift out of 1st gear, and it takes over 30 seconds to redline in all gears.
+15% Bonus

I should have it set on: Simulation from the start. Its good to practice not hitting other cars early, because they'll come back for you... (more later)

-Fuel/Tire Wear

When on: You use fuel, and tires will wear and loose grip as you race. Explains itself really.
+0% Bonus

When off: You have unlimited fuel, and while the tires still heat up, you wont wear them down.
-25% Bonus

I should have it set on: On. Unless you drift round every turn, which isnt very efficiant in this game, you'll be fine.

-Shifting

Automatic: Gears shift automatically (but sometimes dont shift at the BEST times).
+0% Bonus

Manual: Gears shift by you. X shifts down, while B shifts up. Better then automatic, as you can squeeze the engine for a few more revs, and have a higher speed into the next gear.
+15% Bonus

I should have it set on: Manual. Its better then automatic, as you have more control over the car. You can choose what gear you want to be in exiting a turn, and make use of the engine brake. It might seem hard at first, but once you use it, you wont be able to go back. When it's on, you loose too much control over the car. Its like the game turning corners for you.... wheres the fun?

-Anti-Lock Braking

ABS On: You can brake hard into corners (L-Trigger right down), and your wheels wont lock up. Standard knowledge really, everyone on this forum should know this.
+0% Bonus

ABS Off: You have to be more careful now. Slamming on the brakes will lock your wheels, causing you to skid, and your tire temperature will hit the roof - causing you to spin out. Even half way on the trigger while turning may be enough to make you spin out.
+15% Bonus

I should have it set on: Your call really. If you have an aggresive style of driving, keep it on.

-Traction

TCS On: Your wheels wont spin under heavy acceleration.
+0% Bonus

TCS Off: They will... lol. You'll have to be careful with the accelerator, and slowly ease on the pressure as to not make the wheels spin - because as you know, spinning wheels wont get you anywhere. I upgraded a Honda Integra to the max, and stapped on the biggest turbo. TCS was off, and the wheels spun everytime i changed gear, up to 5th... it was crazy
+15% Bonus

I should have it set on: Like ABS, if you drive like a maniac, leave it on.

-Stability

STM On: Harder to loose control while oversteering, or understeering.
+0% Bonus

STM Off: No help when turning the corners. Quite useless when its on really.
+15% Bonus

I should have it set on: Off, 15% for nothing

MORE UPDATES TO COME

this games is kewl! only thing that annoys me is when your in the lead, brake semi harsh for a corner, and then the rear end of your car is bein penetrated by the front of 2nd place ramming u off and ending in you losing the race

the list of cars is useful
