looks like its taken from kowloon bay, which is opposite side of hong kong island.
everynight at 8pm the whole of hong kong side has a light show. lasers, spots and loads of light trickery. best to view it at east tsim sha tsui.

he has a mega expensive camera set-up for taking pictures of Aircraft, so its probably just one huge pic cropped, he has something crazy like 10MP camera
