A random history lesson for those who may be interested... there was also a 160TS, was the same car ie gsi kit, but had a 5spd box and 1600 lump

I rmember one of the first mk3's with the let conversion when i was about 12 fella in the isle of man big feature in max power thought he was mental for doing that

mag stats vary wildly from place to place. driver, conditions etc etc

A friend of mine has a MK2 astra with a LET in, granted its not standard (has a T3 turbo for a start) but its a proper handful on a greasy road surface

Not many left their native SA either.

Most live by the Sea and have suffered at the hand of rot because of the salt
