the car will be reliable weather its one or the other. Was thinking ither Manzel fitted c16xe with turbo or standard C20xe for a bit then fit THB's

What should i do? whats the better option?

Wouldnt bother Turbo'ing the 1.6 you hit the ceiling for power very early.

If you strengthened the engine enough you could get say 200+bhp from the 1.6... Could be an interesting project.

Low compression forged pistons and steel con-rods would be a good place to start. Then you would probably want to install oil jets to cool the pistons. You would need to make the sump bigger by welding a bit onto the bottom - the aim is to keep the engine as cool as possible so you'll need an oil cooler and a larger capacitly radiator. You would need a crazy head with bigger valves - not to sure on exact sizes. You would need to run milder cam profiles. You could think about running throttle bodys along with the turbo. The list is as long as you want it to be though!

A stand alone engine management system would be usefull too to control everything!

why the extra bit on bottom of sump you'll rip the thing off at first speed hump though the 20 litres inside will take a bit longer to empty
also if you take the let in comparison to the xe the head will be fine as vauxhall use sodium filed valves so the head doesnt need touched and as for porting with a turbo it doesnt make much difference as is forced through anyway

That woudl be a waste of the cash.

If you want to do it to 200BHP, then

Low comp pistons around 9:1 slightly less maybe. verniner pulley to reduce the overlap on the cams timing. T25 turbo, manifold, Intercooler (cossie ones are a good size) and management, and to run a turbo properly you'll be lookign at the DTA PRO or the omex eqn for £1000, although I think emerald will do the job fine. I wouldn't worry abotu oil cooling for only 200BHP etc.. it's extra cost. Thento take it further, steel rods and spray jets, block girdle, new valves and different cams, bigger turbo and 320BHP would be feasible, but unless you're racing, why spend the money?
