got quoted 1500 for a complete bare metal respray in Kandy apple red. This price also includes a bit of bodywork; just small things like making what i have done to it better quality and reinforcing the kit with foam and more brackets.
I've seen their work before and its spot on but they havnt done a kandy, should i take the risk or pay extra for a bodyshop thats done a similar job previously?
The price doesnt include the paint as i already have that.
cheers

Yes, but make sure the bpdyshop knows what they are doing before you take your car there, it seems a little cheap for the ammount of work required....

Does anyone know if kandys are a pain to get right compared to 'normal' paints?

the main thing u are paying for there is to take it back to the bare metal, the prep is the main cost on any resapray and i would say that is about right if you have the paint cos that also isnt cheap if it is gd stuff, we have just done a respray from bare metal on an MGB and that cost around £2k but we supplied the paint and there was a few things that needed doing!

I would say in excess of £2k if your going down to metal... Because they will have to spray on a sealer, primer and wet sand it, kandy base, kandy colour and laquer. It will then need to be wet sanded again then polished. Loads and loads of work to be done!
However, if the sprayer can get a decent finish with any other paint job then there is no reason whatsoever they can't do a kandy...

ah right, when most people have different colour resprays do they go down to bare metal? My car is currently star silver and parts of the kit are not even sprayed yet.
Customcorsa, whatever you suggest mate...

the kits on, the fit isnt bad at all. Just need a few things tidying up like the rear bumper. Me and the mrs smoothed away the numper plate lump thingy and have got it about 90% perfect.
Have got a smooth boot to go on too but would need the glass from my existing boot swapped over because the smooth one has no glass.
