yup currently running the gf's corsa b on them
nice ride
handle awesome
alot of travel
found alot of strange "twanging" when moving slow and steering
this is the springs making the noise its annoying but you get used to it
really thought something was not right but spoke to several peeps with coil overs and the have said the same!
all in all a top buy for £250 had been fitted then removed! BARGAIN

So how harsh is the set up? Don't want it really hard and bumpy!

they dont bang and crash like most lowered suspension as they have alot of travel when lowered say 60mm
if they didnt have so much travel then they could be on the softest setting but they scrub so needed harding up a few notches

Been reading loads of horror stories on the web about them. So I think I've been put off a bit.

Stories of leaking shocks, stiff and bumpy shocks and poor build quality with rusty threads!

Don't sound good do they!

I ran a set for about a year (15,000 miles). Good shocks, they do tend to have quite poor corrosion resistance but then again most shockers do in this countries weather! The secret with coilovers is that you MUST, at the very least wax-oil the threads and regularly clean/ re-apply approx every 6 months.

In terms of handing I found them very good. If you run them quite low then you will find the polly bumpstops will cause them to have a little bounce but nothing severe enough to put you off buying them.

The thing for me that let them down were the springs. As std the kit comes with 256lb (spax-rated) springs. I was running a 5door with 1.2 16V lump and found them just too soft & it was riding the stops too often, that was 50mm lowered. In my 5 years experience with various Spax suspension kits I have found that their coil springs tend to collapse a little over time, I.E a 40mm kit turns into a 60mm kit after some average-high mileage.

About a year ago I sold my RSX kit & went for some top-draw coilovers from Harry Hockley Motorsport. I now run Grp A Rally (tarmac) legs with Bilstein 40mm insert dampers. I also run 300lb springs, solid alloy topmounts & scrapped the ARB. I have also changed from the 1.2 16V engine to a 20XE (Redtop) lump. I have found that my new coilovers work wonderfully with the new engine, even though they are not damp adjustable.

IMO you dont need adjustable damping if you match the correct spring poundage with the correct damper rates & weight of the car. Its just all about geting the correct match. Coilovers allow you to change springs quite easily with other brand 2.25" springs, so you can chop & change till its spot on.

What setup is your car, how low are you wanting it & im assuming its for daily road use.

P.S be warned, the Spax RSX kit leaves you with some shocking camber angles. When I had mine down 60-65mm it left me with near 3 degrees negative camber per side. It went through the insides of a set of boots in 5K miles, which isn't funny.
You can fit eccentricated solid topmounts but the Spax Kit's top spring seats dont work nicely with them, they tend to knock quite a lot against the shoulder of the mount.

Good luck & any more advice you need, gimme a shout. I've got a fair bit of experience with Corsa B suspension but im not on here often.

Oh and this Krypton gas business is what i'd describe as a 'gimick' by Spax. The gas will help a lot on say a really rough gravel rally car where the shocks have to work their tits off & the damping oil can warm up and go off but this is HIGHLY unlikely on a road car.

got them on my nova and had no problems. used them once on the track and it handled pretty good. Mine were brand new £270 delivered off ebay which was quite good i thought. the front is a little soft but you can adjust them up a bit but i have an xe engine which probably wont help. pretty decent kit for the money i think if you can get them cheap like i did

Doesn't sound too good when tyres for mine are £120 per corner

It's for the Audi A3 and not the Corsa by the way.

Gaz ones aren't stainless steel either though. They aren't even suitable for road use...
