well my car had an engine transplant so may not be, could just me a faulty wire maybe?

its a single wire by the thermostat with a spade connector. more than likely its come off

the top hose from the rad goes to the thermostat. it will be just there with another sensor which has 2 wires

under the thermostat. the one on the right which is more goldy.

stat could also be stuck open.
if so it's fubar.
3 10mm bolts hold it on so it's a piece of piss to check.

i have taken out that goldy bolt sensor thing like you circled in the pic mate, now how do i tell if thats fucked? or cant you? only it looks just like a small bit of metal lol, anyways to tell if its broken and i need a new one?

taking the thermostat off proves that it's not stuck open which could cause the temp gauge to not move much off of 90.
if you ground the blue wire that goes to the temp sender it should whack the gauge round to max.
if it doesn't swing the needle then you've either a break in the wire or a dodgy gauge.
if it does swing the needle then you've possibly got a bad connection between connector and sensor, or the sensor is goosed.

so if i start car and put the sensor wire onto the chassis is should send the needle sky high

i put sensor wire onto chassis and started car and the needle still didnt move!
im guessing i have a faulty wire somewhere then grrrr
